De Ja Vu

..."same thing we do every night Pinky"... Okay. She's not taking over the world, only the elevator.

Elevator!!

Ellie loves the elevator in the apartment complex which goes down to the parking garage. She rushes to push the buttons, enjoys making funny faces in the mirror in the lobby, knows we push "B" to get to the car, and always enjoys the ride.

Special Messages for SuSu

YouTube Video

And here's the second take. It was all Ellie's idea. I think she wanted to better plan her pose at the end if you ask me.

YouTube Video

Happy Birthday Susie!

I wish we had a great mornig here and I had lots of smiley hapy Ellie photos to share for Aunt Susu's birthday. But I don't. It was a rough morning, Ellie really didn't want to go to school...

But I did get her to stand still long enough for one photo this morning.

Yeah, not happy it isn't a home day...

It's raining...it's pouring...

And Ellie isn't happy about it. Well, it's not pouring, but it's wet enough that she won't get to go outside today...

Not too many photos, sorry.

Same favorite toy...

Off to get my CA license.

Back to School

Ellies vacation in Santa Barbara is over. She was a little bit excited to go to school, but she told me that she wanted for me to stay home so we could go swimming and she could show me her new toys.

At school she wa excited by the recently bloomed yellow flowers (lilies?). She thought the middles were funny.

Old habits and favorites die hard or aren't forgotten. Ellie immediately went to her favorite toy at school...the dress up girls.

She definitely was excited to see me. But more excited to show me all her new toys. Especially her fairies. She seemed a little bothered that I didn't know their names though...gotta learn those.

Stopping to Smell the Flowers

We did at Ellie's Bright Horizons school.. and we do it here at Ellie's Montessori school.

This morning Ellie wanted to show me the pretty flowers outside her school.. and even found a special flower that had fallen on the ground to keep.

Once inside Ellie showed me around all her cool learning areas.. stopping at the counting / numbers / math area to pretend to clean her ear with a Q-tip. (They are meant to be counted, not used as ear swabs. She knew that, though. "I'm just pretending!")

Then Ellie and Ms. McCrae showed me all the butterflies that have come out of their chrysalises in the classroom. Once all the butterflies come out the teachers and the friends will release them out onto the flowers in their garden in their playground.

Ellie's First Facepainting

We hadn't gotten Ellie's face painted before, but she was lucky enough to have it done at school today.

It was part of the excitement of her new friend Alex's 4th birthday party. All the classmates also had a pizza party lunch.. with cupcakes for dessert. Ellie was quite excited to tell us all about it.

Early Morning

This morning Ellie and I got up early as I had to drop her off at 7:00am to get over to Beverly Hills by 8. (didn't make it though...traffic sucks! But it ended up being okay because turns out we couldn't start till 9. I arrived at 8:30).

Ellie had breakfast in the car.

We actually made it to school way earlier than 7. So I decided we had time to get "mommys coffee and my chocolate milk". She was so excited about that milk and wouldn't let go of it!

Once at school she helped sharpen pencils with Ms. Sharon...while holding her chocolate milk.

And guess what...no tantrum this morning. Maybe she was still half asleep...

"When I go back to Boston..."

Nope. Never a good way to start a sentence in the morning. The sentence ended like this, "I want to tell Meara about my hike in the mountains!".

We had a long conversation in the car as we drove to school about how Ellie lives in California and had new friends.

She wasn't happy.

Once at school she went right to her favorite toy, the magnetic dress-up toys.

When I told her it was time for me to go to work, she took the time to put her toys away before throwing her normal, "I don't want you to go Mommy!" fit.

She also showed me the photos from the mothers day breakfast last Friday.

It's Mothers Day!

Well, for all intents and purposes that is correct. After an exciting night where the neighboring apartment building had their fire alarm go off, and fire trucks race down the street at 3am...Ellie decided it was scary and crawled in bed with me...and I let her.

At school the teachers and friends hosted a breakfast for the moms. Ellie made me a present and picked out a flower for me. She also picked out a plate for breakfast.

It was very nice. I got to meet and see some of the other moms and friends (typically Ellie is first one there).

The teachers asked the friends what their mommy did for work and doumented the answers. There were a lot of my mommy uses a computer...but not Ellie, she said, "she works at a building and uses a hammer".

But I didn't bring a toy!

This morning was fine...until we were en route to school and Ellie realized she didn't bring a toy from home. I told her that bringing toys is only for sometimes and it's a special treat. She didn't like that.

Once at school I had her show me her favorite toy at school and she picked out some dolls which are magnetic and you can mix and match clothes on them. We played for a while.

After I told her it was time for me to go, she started to tear up and cry. However, before she threw her full-fledged tantrum she was sure to put her dolls away and push her chair in.
