Easter Feast

Ellie definitely was excited about going to school today. First thing she asked is if we had bunny ears that she could wear. The answer was no, but she wore a new pretty dress a new necklace and her hair up in "a pretty pony".

School was all decorated for the big Easter Feast, aka the party the day before Spring Break.

There were Easter buckets and a butterfly piƱata and all sorts of fun stuff planned. Ellie was super pumped and I can't wait to hear about her day.

Interesting choices

So Ellie had a good morning, albeit typical. She didn't let me brick her hair...it's okay for her to go to school with a rats best when there is no good reason for it right? Also she decided to wear a dress she already wore to school this week. Maybe it was just a lazy morning.

Anyway, she had a interesting choice for sharing day. Last night, Ellie and Nick, well nick did all the drawing, drafted up an illustrations of Ellie's room, complete with princess picture and baby crib and dining room. Apparently Ellie loved this drawing so much she took it for sharing. However, I think that it was the time she spent with Nick doing it. Because when she got to school she told her teachers and friends, "look what my daddy and I did last night!" And then described all the detail in the drawings.

More eggs

Yesterday, after talking to Ellie and her teachers I learned that Ellie could bring in some hard boiled eggs and get to do some more dying at school. We had hard boiled and decorated all the white eggs at home and only had brown, so I had to go out and buy some more white. But Ells was happy to have them and be able to participate.

Well that was weird...

Last night around 2 am Ellie came running into my room crying because she had wet the bed and she was sorry. She was really shaken up about it. I sent her to the bathroom to sit on the potty and take her PJs off while I went to her room to change the sheets. But her bed was dry. Completely dry. No accident. So I go to the bathroom where she is on the floor naked and crying about her accident. Her underwear and nightgown are dry. No accident. I tell her to sit on the potty and she does and then I explain she didn't have an accident, that her bed is dry, her underwear is dry, everything is dry. But she is still crying and insisting that she did have an accident. I get her dressed and back to her room where she won't get in bed because I hadn't changed the sheets. I show her everything is dry, but she is still crying and just barely believes me. She eventually crawls into bed and is sound asleep before I leave her room. So yeah, that was weird...

Last night Ellie go a fun present from Aunt Cindy. Hilarity with bubbles and a light-up wand ensued for the rest of the evening.

The wand went to school for sharing day.

She was also very excited that she got dibs on the dollhouse at school. Apparently she doesn't like how her friends play with it...

Egg-cellent morning

We had a great morning. She insisted one wearing a new dress I got her when we went to the mall yesterday. In addition, after toast she requested a hard boiled egg for the ride to school.

We also had time to put on a temporary fairy tattoo that she has been begging to wear since her birthday. However this caused a little issue because she was afraid it would be worn off by her sweatshirt before we got to school.

It wasn't and she was super happy to show all her friends the fairy on her arm when we got to school.

Last Friday some Irish dancers came to her school for a little show. Ellie thought they were pretty cool. After swim lessons she showed me how Irish dancers dance, yep pretty close...

St Patrick's day celebrations

Well today was an early morning, dropped off at 7am as I had an early meeting this morning. Ellie was not happy that the sun wasn't up yet.

But then I reminded her about today...they were celebrating St Patricks day at school. Ellie reminded me she had to wear green. I asked her what happens if people don't wear green, her response.."ummm, well you can't pinch them!". She wore her new green flower dress (a second showing this week...).

She was also excited because there are going to be Irish dancers at school. She asked me what they would be like and I told her they may have very fancy hair and pretty dresses and she was happy.

At school she was happy to show her bagel for breakfast with her friend who was ALL dressed up for St pats day, totally adorable.

Happy Friday!

Ariel goes to school part 2

Ellie really wanted to take Ariel with her tail to school for sharing day. Because she thought it would be fun to talk about the differences from her other Ariel that she took on Tuesday. She really was happy this morning, although the photos don't show it.

I think it's been several days in a row that she has put on her own shoes without a fight. She hasn't cried about them being too tight or too loose...although she says she wishes they were softer like her Uggs. She did ask if maybe tomorrow she could wear socks...well see how that goes.

Special Breakfast with Mommy

So Ellie was very well behaved last night and stayed in her bed without coming out once.

So this morning she and I went to special breakfast. It was interesting to me to learn how fast she needs food in her stomach when she gets up. Usually she eats breakfast first before getting ready, but today she got ready before food... And she was whiny and complained about everything. She was good and didn't melt down, but she was cranky.

But we finally made it to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf inside a Ralph's (I had a coupon). Ellie picked a blueberry muffin for breakfast.

She then hose to sit in the tall chairs at the bar which looks out into the parking lot.

Then because she was super special (and they didn't have any kids beverages in the cooler yet) she got a slightly warmed and frothed milk in a coffee cup.

We had a great time discussing life and her dream the night before (she dreamed she went to D-land and rode the roller coaster over and over), why the Girl Scouts weren't there selling cookies, and other things of interest to 4 year olds. We also continued our discussion on why her map work at school was more difficult when the teachers had her do Africa versus the US because Africa has more countries than the US has states. Also the holidays and birthdays coming up.

Anyway it was a blast and she loved it. However, in our rush we forgot to put a sticker on her chart...so she will remind nick when she goes home from school.

Ariel goes to school

Today was sharing day. After I vetoed several of her choices, Ellie settled on her Ariel figurine.

This morning was a little rough, as her leg where she got the tetanus shot was a bit sore. But I won several battles with minimal argument back or tantrums (go mommy!) including no chocolate cereal for breakfast, got sunscreen on her, she didn't wear uggs (it's supposed to be in the 80s which is a little warm for the uggs), she put her shoes on herself to the appropriate tightness, she brushed her own teeth in the morning, and we got out the door before 8 after both sleeping past 7am...pfew!

There is a new toy at school. A little wooden dollhouse with wooden dolls and fixtures. It was a donation from one of the students who ignored it at home, but now she likes to play with it. However, she has some competition for its attention from Ellie who ran straight for it and took control of the "school family". Her teachers said that Ellie played with it all afternoon yesterday as well.

Doctor appointment

Ellie had her 4 year well visit this morning. So she was late to school. She did well at the appointment.

When we got there a little early and had a bit of a wait, even though it was the first appointment of the day. She entertained herself watching the fish and counting chairs and stools in the waiting room.

Then the nurse called her name and she had her weight (37 lbs) and height (39") measures. Turns out she is 30th percentile for height but 63rd for weight. They also took her blood pressure... Seriously, blood pressure for a 4 year old?

Once in the exam room Ellie played a couple of "games". Well, she had her hearing and vision tested. She impressed the nurse who said at this age sometimes it's hard to get kids to cooperate.

She then changed into a gown which she thought was hilarious.

She did well with the doctor answering all her questions. She got two vaccines, one being tetanus so she will have a sore leg.

All in all the appointment went well. She cooperated and the doctor was happy with her growth and progress.

Mommy slept well

So all is great in my world! Morning was good, Ellie was in a happy mood and picked out her own outfit and got about 75% dressed herself.

At school apparently the cool thing to do was play on the computer...

Happy Friday everyone!

Mommy didn't sleep well

Yeah, I got a HORRIBLE nights sleep. It was like having a newborn again, up every two hours. First, Nick's alarm kept going off because it wasn't waking him up at midnight. So I had to wake him up, which meant that I was up to make sure he got up. Then around 2am, Ellie came in my room and woke me up. I had to get out of bed to put her back into bed. Then again at 4am, she came back in... freaking out and so I let her crawl into bed with me. But, she had this glow worm (that Nick put batteries in so it plays music again) and she kept saying she was scared and the only way she could sleep was with the music. After 30 minutes of trying, I realized that I wasn't going to sleep with baa baa black sheep playing in my ear, so I carried her back to her bed and told her everything was okay. She screamed and yelled that I was a mean mommy and she didn't like me for a good 30 minutes.

This morning she asked if she got a sticker. I looked at her with raided eyebrows and said no. She asked why not and after I explained her actions the previous evening she had no memory of getting out of bed.

But it was raining so she was in a good mood. The stupid glow worm went to school for sharing day.

My friends, come play with me!

Morning was good, a little rushed, but plenty of time to get her hair into braids for swimming this afternoon.

Once at school she saw that her buddies, Camille and Sadie had just arrived as well. Immediately, she decided on an activity for all three of them and called them over to play.

"friends, I'm here! Go get dolls and play with me!"

Well, we know who is in charge of that little gaggle of girls!

So an old favorite came out to play, the magnet dolls. Ellie, surprisingly picked the boy doll. Although she was pretending she had an older brother this morning...

Morning of pretend

Again, we had a nice peaceful morning. Ellie picked out her clothes and decided she wanted to wear a headband to school for sharing day.

After getting dressed an eating breakfast, Ellie asked if she had time to play with the "family". She did and so she quietly played in her playroom with her dollhouse for 10 minutes.
