Slipping Into Something Comfortable

Ellie, with a little help from Mommy, recently discovered how nice it is to wear slippers on chilly evenings and mornings. Of course.. it doesn't hurt that Santa brought those nice, new, warm slippers for her for Christmas.

The most interesting observation to come out of Ellie's learned love of slippers is that she seems to have a similar aversion to certain textures as her mom. For a while Ellie didn't like the slippers because she wasn't sure how they'd feel -- until she put her hand inside to notice they are warm and woolly and soft. She has a similar aversion to certain socks that are too bulky in her mind.. some mittens that we have to tuck into her coat arms (though the recent cold weather is helping to change that).. and shoes that are are too tight.

Let's just hope Ellie stays okay with different foods on her plate touching each other. :-)

Also today.. something very cute happened as we each made our way to school and work. Ann was nice enough to drive Ellie to daycare and me to work in these sub-zero wind chills.. and as I got Ellie out of the car at daycare (as Ann stayed inside the car to keep herself and it warmed up) Ellie said, without prompting, "Bye, Mommy. Have a good day at work!" - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
