Apparently yesterday Ellie was not a happy camper at school and for the first time...had to sit in the "time-out chair". Typically Ellie comes home and gives us a daily recap of who sat in the time out chair and why they were put there. Last night, Ellie wasn't too happy to explain to us why she went in the time out chair.
We knew something was up because when Nick piced up Ellie yesterday, Ms. Avila told Nick that Ellie had thrown a few tantrums, not listened to words, and had been a bit cranky.
Uh-oh.
This morning, Ellie declared she didn't want to go to school because she didn't want to see her friends and teachers and she didnt' want to get in trouble again. She was definitely embarrassed about what happened yesterday and upset by it. But, we talked and I explained that if she listened to her teacher's words and used her own words...then she would have a good day and not get in trouble. She was still embarrassed about what happened yesterday.
Once we got to school I checked in with her teacher Ms. Hyde about what happened yesterday and she confirmed Ellie's story. Apparently Ellie was super cranky and instead of talking she just threw tantrums and fits and was yelling at everyone. Ms. Hyde explained that this was a side of Ellie they had NEVER seen and were very surprised by. Ms. Hyde then had a nice chat with Ellie about how she expected her to have a better day and to listen to words and use her own words instead of yelling.
When I left Ellie she was helping her little friend (the youngest kid at school) play with clay. Hopefully "Ellie the helper" is back instead of "Ellie the cranky, tantrum kid".
