Ellie was so excited this morning. When she woke up she came running into our bedroom and ran to nicks side of the bed screaming Happy birthday Daddy. But daddy wasn't in bed, he was at work which prompted this conversation...
E: mommy why did daddy go to work if its his birthday?
Me: well, his birthday is a Tuesday and that's a regular work/school day. It's not a home day (weekend or holiday when Ellie doesn't have school). Don't worry, we will celebrate when he comes home.
E: but it's his birthday! Did I go to school on my birthday?
Me: yes you did. Remember aunt Susie was here and we celebrated after school.
E: and I took cookies to school to share with friends. Did daddy get to take cookies? He has to take cookies to share. It's his birthday!
Me: yes, daddy took cookies
(really, he did. I made orange and blue cookies last night. I thought about doing cookies in Blackhawks or Bulls colors to celebrate the playoffs. But nobody likes a black cookie, that's weird...)
So hopefully nick has a good day at work. We will be celebrating this evening and opening all the fun presents on the table after a dinner of BBQ.
