First day is school 2013-3014

Today it's back to normal for Ellie. Normal breakfast, normal commute, normal school, normal teachers, and her normal favorite friends!

She was so happy. When pulled into the parking lot Ellie saw and old friend and couldn't wait to get out of the car and give them a hug. Once into the classroom she saw that her besties were there already and was super excited.

She then declared that there was new toys and new work at school and searched for the new toys in the daycare room, spying something immediately and sharing with her friends.

There will be a couple new kids too. I explained to Ellie that she, as someone with experience at this school, would probably have a responsibility to help the new kids settle in and with work. I also told her that the nice thing would be to invite the new kids to play. I doubt she comprehended anything I was saying because she was too excited to see her old friends.

It'll be interesting to hear her stories tonight. The classroom was TOTALLY set up differently with cabinets in new places, new art on the walls, tables in different positions...

I'm very excited about this school year for Ellie. She really started to blossom during summer school and her time at Natural History Camp and the stories she told really showed that she is interested and engaged with learning.

While I was saying my "have a nice days" her teacher told me that she saw Ellie riding her bike with Nick to the park. Nick was confident enough in Ellies bike riding skills that he took her, in her bike, to the park. Apparently it went as well as someone with some shaky confidence on a bike who is barely tall enough to reach the pedals could go.
