Puzzling Pick?

I'm not really puzzled by Ellie's choice of Show-and-Tell item today. I think it's a pretty good one, actually.

This morning Ellie said she wanted to bring her puzzle to school -- "I show my friends when you match pieces animals make noise." That's just what that puzzle does. If you match the correct animal piece to its slot, the dog barks, the horse neighs, and so on. Should be a pretty big hit, I think.

Ellie was also quick to point out -- "I don't want to lose these pieces at school, Daddy." -- knowing they're small.. and remembering her recently lost mitten. So.. she helped me put them into a Ziplock bag where they'd stay safe in her school bag on the bus ride to school.. and also in her cubby.

Ellie has really been into puzzles lately.. doing them often with her friends at school.

Once at school.. Ellie, again, went right for the art table.. painting a picture with some rolling paint sticks.

Then she made me a "birthday cake" out of one of the room's peg boards.. and sung "Happy Birthday to You".. to me.. as I left. Her friends and teachers thought that was pretty funny.
