Books, Boots & Brrrrr's

The morning began, post-yogurt breakfast for Ellie thanks to Ann getting things started, with a kitchen full of princess books.

Ellie had taken her "princess book suitcase" (the carrying carton they came in) to the kitchen, where she wanted to do some reading, and dumped all the books out. She was reading them one-by-one, having memorized a few pages and almost all of the overarching stories, and putting them back in the case. After that we played some catch and kick with the Cinderella / Sleeping Beauty ball Ellie recently got. She kicked the ball once then asked me to stand up and kick it, too. "You're way higher than me, Daddy. When I grow up big I will get higher and higher until I'm tall." (She meant to be saying "taller" all along.) Also.. she's getting much better at catching the ball as it bounces to her.

After that we got ready for school. While Ellie was excited to put her mittens on -- and especially her mitten clips on her winter coat -- she was less than thrilled with the colder weather today. "California is warmer than Boston. Brrrrrrrr. I don't say 'brrrrrr' on vacation."
Right you are, Ellie.
